Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino has told the Italian media he has received an offer to sell Leeds United, but isn’t interested in selling the Championship side. The former Cagliari president has been a controversial figure ever since he bought Leeds United in 2014.

Isola24 Sport have reported on comments Cellino made when he recently visited Sardinia. The Leeds United chief was asked about the rumours Red Bull wanted to buy the club, to which he confirmed there was an offer made by the Austrian company.

However, Cellino said at the moment he’s not prepared to sell Leeds United because he likes the way English clubs can earn money, which can then be used to improve the team.

“I had an offer from Red Bull, but I do not want to sell, for now. In England football clubs can earn from the stadium, merchandising, TV rights, and the fluid market allows you to sell and buy,” said the Leeds United owner.

Cellino has had his issues since arriving in England, and early into his Leeds United reign he was banned by the FA for failing the ‘fit and proper test’.

Last season the Leeds United faithful campaigned to get the Italian out of the club, but from these comments it looks like he’s here to stay.
