Paris Saint-Germain stunned the vast majority of football fans when they triggered Neymar’s €222m release clause last summer. The Brazil international left Camp Nou and made a switch to the Parc des Princes.
Today’s edition of Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo claims PSG are planning to raid the La Liga winners for the second summer in a row. They claim the Ligue 1 winners have identified Philippe Coutinho as a transfer target.
Coutinho arrived at Barcelona from Liverpool for a club-record fee in the January transfer window. The Brazilian has a contract with Ernesto Valverde’s side until 2023 and has a release clause of €400m, according to the claims.
The report states the French champions have made an offer of €270m to one of the former Inter Milan man’s agents. However, PSG have not made any contact with Barcelona to discuss the player.
Prior to his move to Barcelona, PSG were also keen on signing Coutinho last summer and at the start of this year. However, the former Liverpool star decided to join the Spanish champions instead. Mundo Deportivo also explains one of the reasons why Thomas Tuchel’s side want to sign the Barcelona star.
Coutinho is a good friend of Neymar and the latter’s future at the club remains uncertain. PSG remain hopeful that signing the 26-year-old will convince the former Santos star to continue with his current employer. However, Coutinho, for now, wants to continue at Barcelona.
