Timo Werner finished the 2019/20 season with 34 goals and 13 assists for RB Leipzig, and his form for the Bundesliga side caught attention of several top clubs across Europe.

Chelsea were successful in signing him last summer, but he hasn’t managed to replicate his Leipzig form in his debut season at the west London club

The forward finished his first campaign in England with 12 goals and 15 assists, which certainly isn’t terrible, and also won the Champions League last month.

Prior to joining the Blues, Bayern Munich showed interest in the Germany international. This has been confirmed by the 25-year-old’s agent, Karlheinz Förster, in the latest episode of Sport1’s podcast, Meine Bayern-Woche.

“Some top clubs from Europe wanted him. FC Bayern was there too. But in the end Timo decided on Chelsea,” Förster said.

Werner enjoyed the best period of his club football under Julian Nagelsmann’s orders at Leipzig, and the manager will take charge of Bayern from next season.

Sport1 asked the player’s representative if Nagelsmann can ‘lure’ the attacker to leave Chelsea for the Bavarian club.

Responding to that, the agent explained: “You can’t rule out anything, but if I had to assess it at the moment, then I would say very clearly that Timo will stay at Chelsea. He feels comfortable there. A move will not be an issue in the foreseeable future.

“Julian let Timo play in a different position at Leipzig. A bit like Thomas Müller at Bayern. Julian and Timo appreciate each other. Of course, I don’t yet know what will happen in three or four years. Football is fast moving.”
