Nabil Bentaleb signed for Scahlke on loan this week and, perhaps surprisingly, then got the club’s number 10 shirt. That choice of number in no way signals how the German club see Bentaleb and what he can provide for them.
German newspaper Bild say Bentaleb is being seen as a new ‘warrior’ for Schalke, and will be able to team up with Benjamin Stambouli, who has completed a permanent transfer from PSG.
Schalke hope the pair knowing each other from their time together at Tottenham will prove a boost to both players, and help them settle in at the club.
Manager Christian Heidel believes the Tottenham owned player suits the style he wants to play: “Nabil Bentaleb fits perfectly. He can’t bear it when the opponent has the ball.”
It’s clear that Schalke, Heidel, and the German media are expecting all action and tenacious football from Bentaleb, hopefully the footballer will be able to provide it.
