On January 7th, a possible Leeds United move for Ola Aina was featured on the front page of Turin newspaper Tuttosport.
The 25-year-old moved to Torino on a permanent transfer from Chelsea in 2019, having had a loan spell with the Italian club previously. Last season was spent on loan at Fulham, and now its thought he could be returning to English football again.
Leeds United were presented as an option, and now another source local to Torino is talking up a transfer.
Toro News report ‘he can say goodbye’, explaining the player is no longer one considered indispensable by the Serie A side.
So far this season, Aina has played 1200 minutes for his club, yet it’s stated he’s gradually been getting less minutes as the campaign has progressed, and could therefore switch clubs before the end of the month.
Aina can play on the left or right of midfield, and can also operate as a wing-back, so would provide some additional options for Marcelo Bielsa’s squad.
There’s no indication on the costs of a potential deal, just that a move is possible in the current window.
Given Aina is currently away with Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations, that could provide a hurdle for any potential move, to Leeds United or elsewhere.
