After a number of articles stating that Boulaye Dia would be pushed to one side until June after the post-Wolverhampton Wanderers offer fallout, we now see a door opening for him to return and contribute before the end of the season at Salernitana.
This comes from their manager Fabio Liverani, who held a press conference before Saturday’s game against Cagliari.
Relayed by Salernitana News, the 47-year-old was asked directly about last summer’s Wolves target, who had refused to come on when asked to last weekend against Udinese.
He said: “Dia? He had a meeting with the president which is when decisions were taken. As far as I’m concerned, the door was open, he came, we clarified. In life, we can all make mistakes, and for me it’s over.
“It’s normal that the ownership make an example. Humanly, I have no problems with Dia. We’ll see in the near future what can happen, if he can be reinstated, but this is a decision that is mainly up to the president.”
It appears that Liverani is currently trying to calm everything down around Dia, who will now have to either try and work hard to convince everyone he can be of use before the end of the season, or just wait it out and hope to get sold in the summer.
Whether Wolves and Gary O’Neil still want him isn’t said, but what appears certain is he will be far less costly than last summer, especially if Salernitana are trying to get rid.
