Ajax defender Jurrien Timber has admitted “the chance is there” that he can move this summer, amid reports of Liverpool being interested in him.
The Ajax star has been speaking to Kick ‘t Met on Ziggo Sport, relayed by Voetbal Primeur, about his plans for the summer transfer window, when he is likely to be the subject of major interest once again.
He was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United last summer, with it believed Erik ten Hag was keen to take him with him to Old Trafford.
That move never ended up happening, with the player instead remaining at Ajax to continue his development and build on his reputation as one of the future stars of the future.
He now finds himself linked with a move to Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp reportedly plans to enhance his defence this summer as part of a major rebuild at Anfield.
Indeed, that rumour was fuelled back in the middle of April when it was claimed that Timber’s girlfriend was house hunting in Liverpool ahead of a possible transfer.
Timber is refusing to comment on that, though, and has instead insisted that there are numerous factors he has to take into consideration before a move becomes a reality.
“It’s the same situation for me as last season,” he said.
“When I say I’m leaving, it has to fit. Important is the style of play and playing minutes. Competing for prizes is also important. My favourite country? I dare not say.
“That’s why I’m doing the same as last season. The chance is there, it can happen, but I’m also comfortable here. I’m still young and here everything also suits me. I’m going to watch quietly.”
