Liverpool have a better chance of winning the Champions League than finishing in the top four in the Premier League this season.

That’s according to former Reds midfielder Dietmar Hamann, who is adamant Jürgen Klopp can handle their slump this season.

After romping to their first Premier League title this season, the Reds have endured an almighty fall this season, with them currently eighth in the table and 25 points behind leaders Manchester City.

Indeed, they also sit seven points outside of the top four, with many concerned that they won’t qualify for the Champions League this season.

UEFA’s top competition has provided something of a reprieve, though, with two 2-0 wins against RB Leipzig in the last 16, sparking confidence that they can endure a strong run at the end of the season.

Hamann is definitely of that mind, believing that Liverpool winning the Champions League is their best chance of making the competition again next season.

“As far as BVB’s chances in the quarter-finals are concerned, no matter who advances next week, Dortmund and FC Porto are the biggest outsiders of the eight remaining teams,” he told Sky Sport Germany.

“For Liverpool FC with Jürgen Klopp, I think the chance of winning the Champions League is greater than finishing in the top four in the Premier League and thus qualifying for next season’s top flight.

“Klopp’s situation with Liverpool was similar to the one he had in his last year at Dortmund.

“He is a seasoned coach; his sovereignty is one of his greatest strengths, so he can handle it.”
