In the past couple of days, we’ve seen Newcastle United being linked to Valencia sensation Javi Guerra.
The Magpies’ interest in the youngster was first revealed by Marca and then backed up by Sport, with both outlets claiming there’s close monitoring going on.
Now as outlet Super Deporte features some quotes from Valencia manager Ruben Baraja, the boss had something to say about the Newcastle target.
According to the coach, Guerra must focus on his club and work to keep up with the great form he’s been showing.
“Javi’s progress has been very fast. He finished last season well and this year he has started being a protagonist in defensive actions, scoring goals… this always highlights the work of each player,” said Baraja.
“He has to be calm, assume and manage this situation and we have to try to make him focus on what is important, on the day to day work. He still has to work, he’s still very young. You have to know how to handle it and he’s taking his time to manage everything. He only has to think about football.”
Javi Guerra was officially promoted to Valencia’s first team in the summer, and this season he already has three goals and one assist in six games, despite being a central midfielder.
The local media is very excited about the form shown by him recently, but they’re also aware that his success at the Mestalla will draw interest from several clubs.
Newcastle are one of the first to show up, and it shall be no surprise if some other European sides soon start making contact for his signing.
