It’s not been a good day for calves on international duty today.
After news that Alexis Sanchez pulled out of the Chile squad for their game against Colombia (he might still be fit against Uruguay), it’s now Manchester United’s Marouane Fellaini’s turn to pull out of his national team after suffering a calf injury.
Confirmed by various reports on social media, including Het Laatste Nieuws’ Kristof Terreur, the Manchester United midfielder will now return to the north of England to seek treatment on his leg.
Marouane Fellaini (calf injury) won’t be available for Belgium. He’s returning to #MUFC for further treatment.

The injury comes at a bad time for both club and country, and while there is still no news about the extent of the injury, the fact that he has been sent back to Manchester United for ‘further treatment’ suggest it might not be a small one.
We’ll have to wait and see first, but considering Fellaini made it back into José Mourinho’s starting line up against Swansea last week, he might have also been in his plans to face Arsenal at Old Trafford after the international break.
