Radu Dragusin’s transfer to Tottenham Hotspur continues to be a big subject in interviews given by Genoa chiefs.
Today, the move is recalled by club sporting director Marco Ottolin, who was interviewed by Radio Sportiva and has his quotes relayed by Calciomercato.
Speaking of the transfers done in the January transfer window, he pointed out the risk they took when losing an important player like Dragusin.
“There was a lot of interest in Dragusin, including that of Napoli. De Laurentiis also spoke about it: there were talks and discussions, but then things turned out differently. We have to put the club back on a certain path, the sale of Dragusin was important: from a technical point of view maybe risky, Radu is an important player but it was a calculated risk,” said Ottolin.
Dragusin moved to Tottenham for €25m. Despite being used in three different games, he only has eight minutes on the pitch so far, with Ange Postecoglou only bringing him in at the end of matches.
One of the reasons why Dragusin’s sale is still a subject is that Bayern Munich were said to be very close to signing him, with him choosing to join Spurs instead.
Earlier today, we’ve even seen Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis claimed that he also tried to sign Dragusin, as he offered him more than what Tottenham put on the table.
While the defender waits for his first start at for Spurs, he can at least keep reading about how important his transfer was.
