Junior Firpo was one of the players to arrive at Elland Road last summer as Leeds United took him from Barcelona.
The left-back struggled for regular playing time during his two-year spell at the Camp Nou as Jordi Alba was preferred ahead of him at the Catalan club.
In need of more game time, the 25-year-old left Barca and joined the Whites. The former Real Betis man has made 19 league appearances this season for Leeds, which includes 15 starts. He has been left out of the squad for last three matches by Jesse Marsch.
Junior Firpo spent a year at Betis’ academy before he was promoted to their B team in 2015. A year later, he had an opportunity to join Cádiz CF, who had then been promoted to the second division.
According to Estadio Deportivo, the defender was one of the options considered for the left-back position after he impressed against Cádiz while representing Betis’ B team the previous season.
The Spanish club were even convinced to take over his services, before Cádiz’s sporting leaders thought ‘he is not a player for the Primera Division’, even though they were then in the Segunda División.
Cádiz finally rejected signing the current Leeds player and ended up taking Brian Oliván. Junior Firpo went on to enjoy a great 2018/19 season with Betis’ first team, which helped him get a move to Barca in 2019.
