Celtic will see Maik Nawrocki return to Celtic Park if Hannover 96 decide not to make his stay permanent. Martin O’Neill’s side will keep a close watch on developments at the German club.
The 25-year-old joined Celtic from Legia Warszawa for around €5m in July 2023.
He played 1,081 minutes from 18 matches for Celtic under Brendan Rodgers’ orders. This includes 293 minutes from only five matches [two in the league] last season.
The restricted role saw the Scottish club sanction a temporary move and last July, they allowed him to join Hannover 96 on a season-long loan deal.
Nawrocki waited until October to make his debut for the second division German club and has been a regular since then.
The centre-back has so far played 1,006 minutes from 13 matches, managing three goals and two assists. These are his figures per game with Hannover 96.

What next for Celtic owned player
The 2. Bundesliga side have an option to buy him from Celtic at the end of this season. Bild now look at the chances of the defender extending his stay with them.
At this moment in time, a decision hasn’t been made over extending Maik Nawrocki’s stay and it won’t be made anytime soon.
The purchase clause is set at €2m and Bild spoke to Hannover 96 managing director Jörg Schmadtke to discuss the Celtic man’s future.
“It depends on which league we’re in. [A final decision will be] relatively late,” he said.
They are now fifth in the second division table with 49 points, two points behind second placed SV Elversberg.
Should they miss out on a promotion to the Bundesliga, the €2m purchase clause will be expensive for the German club.
Nawrocki’s contract, value and agent info
O’Neill will be in charge at Celtic Park until the end of this season and the Bhoys have to appoint a new manager next season.
The new boss could have a say on Maik Nawrocki’s future if Hannover 96 can’t make his stay permanent.
Nawrocki has a contract with Celtic until 2028, and Transfermarkt value him at €1.5m. German agency Ingenium Sports Gmbh are taking care of his future.
