This may sound like a story from the last summer, but Burnley are apparently still trying to sign Jovane Cabral from Sporting.
Despite the Clarets’ failed attempt to land the player in the middle of last year, they’re now said to be hopeful of getting him on deadline day.
That’s reported today by Portuguese newspaper O Jogo, who claim that with the player standing at Sporting’s exit door, Burnley ‘went back to the charge’ for him.
It’s claimed that the Championship side are currently waiting for a ‘positive answer’ from Jovane, who’s expected to be loaned out by the Lions.
It’s pointed out that Salernitana had been interested in the winger, but are now unlikely to achieve the signing, as they’d still need to free up space in their squad.
Even though O Jogo don’t bring many more details, it really sounds like Jovane only needs to say yes to get the move to Burnley done.
The winger has been getting little playing time at Sporting this season, with only 170 minutes on the pitch, and one assist in nine appearances.
