Burnley have agreed to sign Lucas Pires from Santos, according to claims from Brazil.
Globo Esporte reports the Clarets will be spending €2.5m on the signing, with the South American side keeping a percentage of a future transfer.
It’s said that Pires already had his medical with Burnley, and the announcement should take place in the coming days.
The 23-year-old left-back had shown some big potential in his first years as a professional at Santos.
In 2023, however, while the club were fighting against relegation to the second division, he was spotted partying and ended up being left out of the squad.
That’s why Santos decided to loan him out to Cádiz last season. He stayed in Spain for a year, making 30 appearances, and wasn’t in the Santos squad which was actually relegated.
It was always unlikely that the Brazilian side would have any plans for him, and now that he returned from the loan, Burnley were apparently quick to clinch the signing.
