Burnley saw a late effort to sign PSV Eindhoven’s Patrick van Aanholt in January rejected by the Dutch club, who were uninterested in doing a deal for the full-back.
That’s according to Eindhovens Dagblad, relayed by Voetbal Primeur, who say Burnley saw their efforts turned away.
Van Aanholt is currently on loan with PSV from Galatasaray but has found himself out of the picture of late, with Sergiño Dest taking control of the left-back spot.
ED explain that Burnley would have liked to sign the Dutchman, presumably on loan until the end of the season, but those in charge at Eindhoven did not want to cooperate in a deal.
They would seemingly like to keep hold of Van Aanholt for the time being, with the club still considering the possibility of signing him permanently at the end of the season, albeit on lower salary terms.
Thus, any interest from Burnley was rejected out of hand, even though the two clubs were busy also negotiating a deal for CJ Egan Riley to move to the Netherlands.
That proved to be successful, unlike the talks for Van Aanholt, which never appeared to get off the ground due to the Dutch side’s reluctance.
