Galatasaray have added Burnley’s Lesley Ugochukwu to their summer transfer shortlist, with the Clarets expecting a departure.

Jeunes Footeux report that the Turkish side are not ruling out a move for the 22-year-old at the end of the season.

Burnley misery

Lesley Ugochukwu joined Burnley from Chelsea in a €28m deal last summer after struggling to break through at Chelsea.

The midfielder has managed to impress despite Burnley’s struggles and relegation from the Premier League this season, with a tally of three goals and two assists in 32 games in the league.

He now finds himself among the candidates for a possible departure, with Burnley planning a major squad overhaul for the Championship.

Internally at Turf Moor they believe that it will be difficult to keep Ugochukwu. He was bought for too much, is on Premier League wages, and has ambitions beyond the Championship.

He also remains ‘highly sought after’. Several English clubs are monitoring his profile as a defensive midfielder. Now Türkiye has entered the race.

Galatasaray shortlist

According to Jeunes Footeux’s information, Galatasaray have added Lesley Ugochukwu to their shortlist. They’re not ruling out making a move as soon as the transfer window opens.

However, they are likely to offer a loan more than a permanent transfer. The idea is to take advantage of the ‘tense situation’ at Burnley following relegation. They want to seize a ‘market opportunity’ without breaking the bank.

For the midfielder, a loan with the prospect of playing a leading role in the Süper Lig and in Europe could help ‘revive a career’ that stalled at Chelsea and has been hurt by Burnley’s struggles this season.

At this point he would prefer to stay in England. That is not set in stone by any means, though. There is opportunity for Galatasaray to change his mind.
