Burnley are interested in Paris Saint Germain midfielder Fabian Ruiz, according to reports from France.
Website Foot Mercato writes that the Clarets have the 27-year-old is a ‘priority’ for the summer window.
It’s said that Burnley have Ruiz ‘at the top of the short list’ of reinforcements following their promotion to the Premier League.
The outlet just highlights that there’s one problem for Vincent Kompany’s side, which is the player’s wish.
Ruiz reportedly ‘doesn’t want to pack up’ and give up on his current contract with PSG. There, he makes €5m a year in a deal until 2027.
That’s the only issue because the French side wouldn’t mind seeing him leaving. Foot Mercato points out he did not live up to expectations at the club and is already considered a flop.
PSG spent €23m to sign Ruiz from Napoli last summer. Despite making 37 appearances for the Ligue 1 champions this season, he wasn’t able to impress there.
It turns out that Transfermarkt value him at €38m, so despite PSG’s wish to see him leave, we’d have to see how much they’ll demand from Burnley for the move.
