On May 30th, journalist Sacha Tavolieri reported Burnley could try again to sign Georges Mikautadze after FC Metz rejected their offer last summer. He also said Vincent Kompany ‘still loves’ the striker.

On Thursday, Le10 Sport stated the Ligue 2 side need €20m for their star and the Clarets are ready to meet their demands.

According to Score.fr, Burnley are not the only club in the race as AC Milan are also in the picture for the 22-year-old. These two teams have already taken further steps to secure his services.

It’s claimed ‘several meetings’ have already taken place between the player and Kompany, and also with Paolo Maldini, the Serie A side’s chief.

Burnley have secured a promotion to the Premier League by winning the Championship in the recently concluded season. Kompany is keen to bring in a new striker to play in the top flight and this is where the Georgia international has been identified as the target.

It’s stated the English club have ‘formulated a first offer’ to Metz to acquire Mikautadze’s signature. The details of the proposal aren’t mentioned in the report.

Burnley and Milan have to be wary about Wolverhampton Wanderers as they have joined the chase for the striker, who scored 24 goals and registered nine assists from 39 games this season.
