Despite claims that Burnley were guaranteed to sign Fahd Moufi from Portimonense in Portugal, the latest from France suggests otherwise.
This comes from Foot Mercato, who refute certain reports with their own information, explaining that the Clarets getting promoted to the Premier League has changed a few of their transfer plans.
Moufi was reportedly among those, and while there might have been an ‘agreement’ with Burnley regarding a free transfer (his contract is up in the summer) in January, the website claim Vincent Kompany and his men ‘could go after a different profile’ and he ‘is not certain’ to be heading to Turf Moor.
Perhaps they want someone who is more ready for the Premier League, but it seems the Portimonense player isn’t too heartbroken about this either.
That’s because he’s rather ‘hoping to return to France for personal reasons’, and a few clubs in said country have shown their own interest.
All in all, there appears to have been a change of plan at Burnley, but it seems all parties are happy with it and no one will be overly upset.
Moufi has made 29 appearances in all competitions for the Portuguese side this season, scoring one goal and assisting another two.
