Bought to score and create goals, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has done that, to some extent, for Stoke City this season.

Bagging five goals and five assists in 32 appearances, the Cameroon international has been a relative mainstay in both Mark Hughes’ and Paul Lambert’s squads this season.

Picking up a groin strain against Everton in mid-March, the 29-year-old has missed the last three games, and there’s a good chance his side will now be relegated to the Championship.

That means there’s also a good chance Choupo-Moting will look elsewhere to continue his career, meaning a transfer, and Calciomercato.com believe he could return to Germany.

According to the Italian website, who somehow have this information, both Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Mönchengladbach are ‘thinking’ about the forward.

We’re guessing they mean for a transfer rather than just lying in the sun day dreaming about his time at Hamburg, Nuremberg, Mainz and Schalke.

Either way, we’ll file this one in the archive and see what comes of it. Maybe they’ll be right. We’ll see.
