Sunderland’s Eliezer Mayenda has ended up on the radar of German clubs.

That’s at least what RTL/ntv and Sport.de are reporting, and they claim this is their own information.

Last season, the striker scored 10 goals and contributed five assists from 41 matches.

Mayenda became Sunderland’s hero by scoring the winner against Sheffield United in the Championship play-off final in May. He replicated WWE star Randy Orton’s celebration and also received a message from the originator.

Earlier this year, the 20-year-old’s father said he didn’t consider leaving the Black Cats last summer. In August, the Premier League side rewarded him with a new contract until 2030.

The Spain U21 international has one goal from eight league matches this season. He has played 18 minutes since October’s international break.

His situation at the Stadium of Light makes him ‘attractive’ for the German clubs. RTL/ntv and Sport.de are reporting that at least one unnamed Bundesliga side are keen on signing Mayenda in January.

It won’t be cheap for interested parties to sign the Sunderland frontman. Transfermarkt currently value him at €18m. Therefore, a loan move would be favourable in the winter market.

There’s no mention or indication of whether Régis Le Bris’ side or Mayenda are open to doing business in January.
