Wolves are being linked in Brazil with another promising South American talent, as Athletico Paranaense youngster Bruninho continues to attract growing attention.

According to Globo Esporte, the Premier League side are among the European clubs monitoring the 17-year-old forward. Wolves have eyes in Brazil and are no strangers to identifying talent there.

Benfica are also mentioned. Athletico are dealing with a delicate contractual situation involving one of their biggest academy prospects.

Athletico Paranaense have been trying to trigger a clause that would substantially increase Bruninho’s salary and, as a consequence, his release clause. However, the player’s representatives have turned down the proposal so far. At present, the release clause stands at €60m for clubs outside Brazil, with the contract running until 2028.

The report explains that Bruninho’s camp are pushing for a clearer career plan before committing to new terms. As a result, talks have stalled and another meeting is scheduled for next week. In the meantime, the teenager is expected to miss Athletico’s squad for their Brazilian league opener against Internacional.

There has also been movement inside Brazil. Intermediaries linked to Cruzeiro have contacted the player’s representatives to ask about a possible deal. Still, it is the European angle that draws most attention due to his significative release clause.

On the pitch, Bruninho continues to deliver. He has three goals and one assist in six matches for Athletico’s aspirantes side in the State Championship. Last season, he scored 25 goals in 43 games across the club’s under-17 and under-20 teams.

For now, Athletico are trying to keep control of the situation. However, with Wolves and others watching closely, the next steps in Bruninho’s story remain open.
