Arsenal have already added Kai Havertz, Declan Rice and Jurriën Timber to their squad for the new season.
The defender’s twin brother Quinten has told Voetbal International, relayed by FC Update, that it was Jurriën’s dream to join the Gunners.
Jurriën was a product of the Eredivisie side’s youth system and made his way into their first team in 2019. After spending nine years in Amsterdam, he left Ajax for Arsenal.
Quinten, who’s currently at Feyenoord, observed the transfer negotiations for Jurriën closely and admitted the deal dragged on, even though both Mikel Arteta’s side and the Netherlands international were keen.
“It took quite a while, but Jurriën really wanted to go to Arsenal and it was also very positive the other way around, so there was always confidence that it would work out. He has now taken his dream step, I am very happy with that, because he worked hard for it,” he said.
The 22-year-old can operate as a right-back or in the heart of defence and this could benefit Arteta and Arsenal.
Quinten left Ajax for FC Utrecht in 2021, before moving to Feyenoord last summer. VI have asked the midfielder if he’s also keen to follow his brother to the Premier League in the future.
Responding to that, Quinten explained. “Yes, for sure. In the future of course. It would be nice to be able to take such a step.”
When asked if he would prefer a move to Arsenal, the Feyenoord player said he doesn’t have a “dream club”.
