In the past few days, several reports from Italy have been claiming that Newcastle United are engaged in a pursuit for Atalanta star Ederson.
The Magpies interest wouldn’t be new, but it was said they’re now more focused on making that transfer happen.
It turns out that the Serie A side aren’t keen on finding a deal with Newcastle, according to Tutto Atalanta.
The outlet features an exclusive story confirming that Ederson’s ‘brilliant season’ drew interest from the likes of the Magpies and Juventus, but that isn’t expected to lead to a move so soon.
It’s said Atalanta are ‘determined’ not to sell the Brazilian, as they’re ‘ready to resist’ January offers for him.
That either means Newcastle should give up on their pursuit for now, or they better be prepared to put a significant amount on the table to try to convince the Italian club.
Ederson is well protected by Atalanta with a contract running until 2024, and is currently valued by Transfermarkt at €27m, although recent reports said they’ll demand over €50m.
