Earlier on Monday, we saw the Portuguese media revealing Brighton & Hove Albion’s interest in Vitória Guimarães star Jota Silva.
It was claimed that the Seagulls sent a scout to watch the player in action against Porto at the weekend, and he turned out to be the man of the match and heroic in his club’s win.
Silva has been a much hyped player in Portugal recently, and that’s well deserved. O Jogo now reports he’s been picked as the forward of the month in the Portuguese league.
The Brighton target got 29% of votes from managers, beating Viktor Gyokeres, who had 20%.
The Swedish player, who has a €100m clause, is clearly the biggest star in the league this season, with an impressive record of goals and assists, so it means a lot for Jota to take that position at this stage.
Jota Silva has 15 goals and seven assists in 35 appearances for Vitória Guimarães this season. The great news for Brighton is that, according to reports today, his club are only demanding €12m for his transfer, so he could turn out to be a bargain in the summer.
