Boca Juniors’ Ezequiel Fernández has ended up on Brighton & Hove Albion’s transfer radar.
That’s according to Boca Noticias, who explain that Brighton want to sign the 21-year-old.
Fernández climbed through the ranks of the Argentine club’s youth system and made his way into their first team in 2021.
The defensive midfielder initially struggled for regular game time and was loaned out to Club Atlético Tigre last year, where he made 42 appearances.
That saw him cement a place at Boca Juniors and he’s made 42 appearances this year.
Fernández’s performances have caught the attention of Brighton and Benfica. The report says the Eagles have been following him for a long time but haven’t made a formal offer just yet.
It’s suggested the Portuguese club will have to battle it out with Roberto De Zerbi’s side in the chase for the Argentine.
With Benfica and Brighton following him, the outlet says new Boca Juniors president Juan Román Riquelme is ‘awaiting a formal offer’.
The South American’s deal lasts until December 2025 and there’s no mention of the fee requested by Boca Juniors to sanction his sale.
