Brighton & Hove Albion have River Plate’s Santiago Lencina on their transfer agenda for the summer window.

That’s according to River Noticias, who cover Brighton interest and the Argentine club’s stance on the 19-year-old.

The attacking midfielder has been a regular for River Plate’s reserve team, scoring seven goals and registering 11 assists from 39 games since 2023.

He made his first team debut in August 2024 and has featured twice for River Plate this year. The youngster has already represented Argentina U20s but wasn’t part of their squad for the 2025 U20 South American Championship in Venezuela.

Lencina has still managed to attract the Seagulls’ attention, and they want to secure his services. River Plate manager Marcelo Gallardo is concerned about losing the player.

According to River Noticias, the teenager is one of the players who could leave the South American club in the next window. His contract lasts until December 2026 and the report states he’s valued at $40m [€35.2m], which feels somewhat exaggerated.

There’s no mention whether the Premier League club intend to make an offer for Lencina. It’s unlikely Brighton would invest $40m for a player who has made only a handful of senior appearances.
