West Ham United goalkeeper Łukasz Fabiański has been urged to leave the Hammers for Brighton & Hove Albion in the next window.

The 38-year-old’s current deal expires at the end of this season and West Ham have an option to extend it further by 12 months, but have yet to trigger it, meaning he is currently set for a free transfer in the summer.

According to well-known Polish journalist Andrzej Twarowski, relayed by Meczyki, the West Ham stopper could be an option for Brighton, if certain conditions are met.

David Moyes has favoured the ex-Arsenal man for league fixtures while Alphonse Areola has been used in the UEFA Conference League, where they have made it to the semi-final, and the cup competitions.

West Ham have conceded 41 goals in the league, with Fabiański starting in most of those fixtures. Despite this, Twarowski believes Brighton ‘should be interested’ in the Pole.

He further adds the West Ham player ‘presents a higher level’ than Robert Sánchez. The Spaniard’s exit from The Amex and another factor could open the door for Fabiański to join Roberto De Zerbi’s side.

“For me, this is a guy who needs to be said goodbye as soon as possible, in my opinion, the weakest link of this team. If Brighton are promoted to the European competitions, I would consider the option: Łukasz Fabianski,” Twarowski said.

Brighton are eighth in the table and could go ahead of fifth placed Tottenham Hotspur, if they win their two games in hand.

Meczyki, who have relayed the journalist’s quotes, doesn’t make it clear whether he was suggesting that Brighton should sign Fabiański or if the Seagulls have an interest in him.
