Brighton & Hove Albion are one of the clubs in the race for Hellas Verona midfielder Ivan Ilic, according to the latest claims from Italy.

Area Napoli today features a story saying the 21-year-old has been drawing interest from several European sides, even though none of them have made a real move for the transfer yet.

Besides the likes of Brighton and Napoli, clubs such as Atalanta, Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Lazio and Sevilla are all said to be keen on him as well.

Knowing of the fight for his services, Hellas Verona already set a price for his sale.

They want a €25m transfer fee.

Napoli are said to be strongly interested in the signing, and the good news for Brighton and others is that this amount could be ‘frightening’ for Aurelio De Laurentii’s club, which could mean one less competitor in the race.

Hellas Verona spent €12m to sign Ilic from Manchester City last summer. Even though Pep Guardiola’s side have the right to bring him back for €20m, they are not labelled as competitors at this time.

The midfielder’s priority is said to be to have as many minutes as possible, and that’s why he wouldn’t mind playing for a club who won’t be fighting for big things.
