Last week, Brighton & Hove Albion’s Diego Gómez scored in Paraguay’s 2-2 draw against Japan.

The attacking midfielder started in Paraguay’s 2-0 friendly defeat to South Korea on Tuesday. Al-Ain FC’s Kaku replaced the Brighton player in the 53rd minute, and Diego Gómez is now a doubt for the match against Newcastle United.

According to Versus, Gómez was taken off the pitch due to physical discomfort. He’s likely to have undergo tests to find out the nature of his setback.

Journalist Angel Elián has now reported an update on the 22-year-old’s situation for Radio Ñandutí, who posted it on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The Brighton player has a ‘right thigh contusion’.

Another radio station, Monumental AM 1080, also took to X, to share a short update on Gómez.

They say the player is returning to The Amex for ‘better diagnosis’. In other words, he will undergo further tests with the Seagulls to find out more about the thigh injury.

Gómez’s fitness could be a concern for Fabian Hürzeler and Brighton ahead of the clash against Newcastle United on Saturday.

The Paraguay international has five goals from eight matches for the Premier League club this season.
