Brighton and Hove Albion star Pascal Groß has been urged to think about a move to Eintracht Frankfurt ahead of Borussia Dortmund this summer, for three clear reasons.
Frankfurter Rundschau cover the player today and explain why the Brighton man may be tempted to join Frankfurt ahead of the likes of Dortmund, despite the latter being a more attractive option at this moment in time.
They explain that fundamentally, a move to Frankfurt would make sense as the Brighton man would be an undisputed starter.
That is not the case at Dortmund, where he would have to compete with the likes of Emre Can, Salih Özcan, Marcel Sabitzer, Felix Nmecha and Kjell Wätjen for a starting role.
That’s not the case at Frankfurt, where the retirements of Makoto Hasebe and Sebastian Rode have opened up a space for him to be a key player.
The second reason is a more personal one, explaining that ‘home would be nearby’ for the player if he were to make the move.
That’s because he was born in Mannheim, which would only be 80km away instead of 300 if he were to join Dortmund. That’s a little thing that could make a big difference for the midfielder.
Point three focuses on matters back on the pitch, saying that Eintracht’s recent experiences of developing players and getting them into the national side can work in their favour.
The likes of Mario Götze and Robin Koch battled their way back after impressive performances for Eintracht, which is a quieter location for players than Dortmund, to say the least.
Groß could benefit from that too, establishing himself as a key player in Frankfurt and maintain a place in the spotlight to ensure he’s in contention for the 2026 World Cup. That might not be possible at Dortmund, where he wouldn’t be guaranteed a starting role as mentioned.
Whether Groß pays any attention to the ideas and arguments remains to be seen as he’s faced with a big decision this summer.
