Adnan Januzaj is in the sights of Brighton & Hove Albion and Southampton.
According to Het Laatste Nieuws, the Saints and the Seagulls are following the 25-year-old’s situation at Real Sociedad closely.
The winger has made 11 appearances in all competitions this season, but has only two starts in La Liga.
He has not been called up by Belgium since September 2019, and the newspaper adds the former Manchester United man and his entourage ‘do not understand’ the reason for his omission from the national team.
With just over six months before Euro 2020 [postponed to next summer due to Covid-19], it’s a worrying situation.
The 25-year-old, who has also played for United and Borussia Dortmund, and has represented Belgium at two World Cups, ‘should always be one of the stars of the Next Gen’, but he ends up losing his place in the national team to other players.
AC Milan and AS Roma knocked on the Spanish club’s door to take the player on a loan deal with a purchase option in January, but Sociedad didn’t entertain it.
With Brighton and Southampton following Januzaj’s ‘situation closely’, a move to either of the two clubs could help him improve his chances of getting back to the Belgium squad for the European championship.
The Belgian has a €60m release clause and the report adds Sociedad will need ‘at least €25m’ to let go of the attacker.
HLN only state the two English clubs are closely following the La Liga player, and provide no additional details regarding Brighton and Southampton.
