Brighton and Hove Albion youngster Julio Enciso has admitted he has faced early issues adapting to life at the club.

The 18-year-old joined Brighton at the beginning of July, signing in an €11.6m deal from Paraguayan side Libertad.

He arrived on the south coast from his homeland with a growing reputation after his spell with Libertad, for whom he scored 21 goals and registered eight assists in 68 games in all competitions including two goals in seven games in the Copa Libertadores.

The 18-year-old has spent his career so far playing as a number ten or behind the striker, but whether Graham Potter uses him the same remains to be seen.

Much of that depends on how he adapts to life in a new country and he admits there have been some early struggles.

“In Paraguay, I was already studying and here I’m still studying, it’s hard but the South Americans in the squad are helping me a lot,” he told Fútbol a lo Grande on 1080 AM, relayed by Extra.

“The coach doesn’t use me as a striker, more as a right winger, but I’m adapting to what he’s asking me to do.”

Enciso could be handed his debut in the Premier League this weekend when Brighton take on Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The Seagulls travel north for their opening game of the new season looking to repeat their win over United last season, which saw them run out 4-0 winners.

Unlike in that game, Cristiano Ronaldo is unlikely to leading the line for the home side, have barely featured in pre-season as he pushes for a move away from Old Trafford.

Enciso is hoping that the Portuguese star is part of the game, though, as he’s very excited to come up against him.

“I still can’t believe this, that I’m going to play against Manchester (United), I hope to make my debut on Sunday,” he added.

“I was watching him (Ronaldo) on TV and now it’s our turn to play against him. I was talking to my teammates and told them I couldn’t believe it.”
