Brighton & Hove Albion remain interested in Benfica striker Gonçalo Ramos, according to the Portuguese media.
It’s newspaper Record who today feature a big story about the player, claiming Benfica want to agree a new contract with him as soon as he returns from the World Cup.
The Eagles want to protect the striker from the interest of foreign sides. It’s recalled that last summer, English clubs wanted him, but none of them reached the €40m requested by the Lisbon club.
Now it’s said Premier League sides ‘continue’ to be attentive to him, and that’s ‘the case of Brighton’, as previously reported by the same outlet.
According to Record, Benfica had already ‘promised’ Ramos a renewal last summer, so the agreement shouldn’t be a problem. He was already protected by a €120m release clause, and those figures should be kept in the new deal.
Following the summer rumours, Ramos is having a pretty good season for the Eagles, with 14 goals and six assists in 21 appearances so far. That’s more than a good reason for Brighton to keep up with their pursuit.
