Brighton & Hove Albion and Bayer Leverkusen are Sevilla’s ‘two competitors’ in the race to sign UD Almería star Umar Sadiq, according to La Colina de Nervión.

The forward impressed for the second division Spanish side as he finished the campaign with 28 goals and nine assists across all competitions.

Sevilla sporting director Monchi knows the former AS Roma man first hand from his time in Italy, and the La Liga side are ‘seduced by the idea’ of having the 24-year-old next season, making first contact with Almería, to discuss the Nigeria international, in February.

Sadiq wants a move away from the Spanish club after they failed to achieve promotion to the top flight and Almería want €20-25m to sanction his sale.

His ‘first choice’ is to join Julen Lopetegui’s side, but the Seagulls and Bayer Leverkusen are also the other two ‘real candidates’ to take the African.

It’s claimed Brighton and the German club have ‘asked for the Nigerian to be acquired’ for the next campaign.

Despite the interest from Graham Potter’s side and Bayer, Lopetegui’s side are the club that have shown ‘great interest’.

In addition to this, Sevilla are also Sadiq’s preferred destination.
