The Deniz Undav situation continues to rumble on, and if anything it’s getting more complicated as time goes by.
Brighton & Hove Albion loaned the player out to VfB Stuttgart last season. The 27-year-old scored an impressive 18 goals for his loan side, and they finished second in the Bundesliga.
That, of course, brings the added benefit of Champions League football and the money which goes with securing it. However, Stuttgart and Brighton don’t seem any nearer to an agreement for Undav to remain where he is.
Part of that is due to the confusion around what will happen with Serhou Guirassy. Having been on the verge of a move to Borussia Dortmund, everything came crashing down when an injury was found during the medical.
Bild report Stuttgart don’t want to find themselves with three forwards on top wages. They’ve signed Ermedin Demirovic, still have Guirassy and would add Undav, with all three earning €3m per year or more.
Guirassy leaving, and resolving that medical issue, is therefore key.
Then there’s the issue of transfer fee, and Bild say Brighton are being ‘rather stubborn’ during negotiations.
There’s every chance the Premier League club are getting a little tired of having to be party to VfB Stuttgart’s own dramas, and perhaps the Bundesliga side should decide if they can really sign Undaz before getting annoyed with Brighton’s perceived lack of cooperation.
