Brighton & Hove Albion are keen to sell Tariq Lamptey this summer but their €18m demands are too much for his main suitors, Sporting Club de Portugal, at this moment in time.
That’s according to Record, who say Sporting remain ‘on the lookout’ for the player but need Brighton to lower their demands if a deal is to happen.
They explain that Lamptey remains a target for the Portuguese side as he ‘will lose space’ at Brighton next season and thus could be allowed to leave for the right price.
According to reports in England the Seagulls are competing with Arsenal for Galatasaray’s Sacha Boey, a player who would push Lamptey down the pecking order and closer to the exit door should he arrive.
Any deal for him would make it clear that Lamptey is not in Brighton’s plans and Sporting would be ready to take advantage of that if they can.
At the moment Brighton are giving priority to a permanent exit but have set the bar at €18m, a ‘high amount’ for Sporting and one they don’t want to pay or cannot pay.
They need the Seagulls to lower their demands if a deal is to take place and will perhaps wait until they’ve sourced a replacement in the hope that brings Lamptey’s price down.
