Arsenal’s scheduled clash against Manchester City on Wednesday was postponed after a number of their players decided to self-isolate as a precaution due to Coronavirus.

The Gunners were set to take on Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday and on March 11th, the Seagulls confirmed the tie was expected to ‘go ahead’.

However, the fixture was called off after Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta tested positive for the coronavirus.

Alessandro Grigoletto, the agent of Brighton & Hove Albion’s Ezequiel Schelotto, has expressed his disappointment at the lack of urgency shown by Premier League officials in handling the situation.

The Brighton player’s representative didn’t hold back when being critical of those who are in the governing body of the England’s top flight club competition.

“Postponing only Brighton-Arsenal is folly. They should have decided early to suspend the whole Premier League instead of thinking now about postponement, at least as a matter of respect,” the 30-year-old’s representative told TuttoMercatoWeb.

“It would have been more appropriate to postpone everything immediately. The Premier League is an impeccable organisation, but in this case, those in charge are behaving like amateurs.”

It was no surprise that TMW would ask Grigoletto about his client and the agent provided an update on Schelotto’s situation in England.

“He has many friends in Italy, obviously he is interested. A few weeks ago, there was some case in Brighton. But unlike us who talk about it on the news every day, in England they only talk about it in the late evening,” Grigoletto stressed.

“Moreover, until yesterday evening they knew that they would play behind closed doors. Today is a world situation, it must be managed.”

Grigoletto has a point. On Friday, the Premier League finally decided to fall in line with other major European leagues and suspended the league until April 4th.
