Over the past few weeks, Borussia Dortmund have overtaken Eintracht Frankfurt in the race to sign Brighton & Hove Albion’s Pascal Groß.
The Germany international has less than a year left on his deal and BVB have shown keen interest in securing his services this summer.
Four days ago, Bild reported Brighton were considering retaining the 33-year-old until the end of next season and letting him leave on a free.
There’s been a development in this case and the midfielder will soon leave the Seagulls if Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg is to be believed.
He says the German club have reached a ‘total agreement’ with Fabian Hürzeler’s side over signing the player for €7m plus €3m bonuses.
Groß will join Dortmund with ‘immediate effect’. Plettenberg further adds he’ll undergo a medical ‘as soon as possible’ and it needs to be clarified whether he will carry it out in Dortmund or Switzerland.
Plettenberg’s colleague at Sky, Patrick Berger, is also reporting the operation is close to being completed. Berger further adds Gross will sign a deal until 2026 at Dortmund, with an option of another year.
