Brighton and Hove Albion are still working on the finer details of their move for St. Pauli coach Fabian Hürzeler.
That’s according to MOPO, who say ‘the longest negotiation in the world’ appears likely to drag on into the weekend.
The newspaper reports that there is no expectation that Brighton will complete their move for Hürzeler on Friday despite talks progressing over the last 48 hours.
According to their information, the framework of a deal with Brighton is now in place after the slow start to negotiations and Brighton’s low-ball offer for him.
The two parties are now closer, and the framework is in place but the finer details have not yet been agreed as the negotiated contract between the two partes has ‘various sub-points’ that still need to be verified.
Both clubs have been working on the matter since Thursday and are continuing to do so on Friday but only when everything has been clarified will a deal be made public. MOPO suggest that ‘should happen this weekend’.
They add that in addition to the base fee, which reports earlier today indicated will be €6-7m, there will be various options for bonuses such as a possible future clause on Hürzeler and additional payments based on success.
Those are the finer details that Brighton and St. Pauli are working on and why the negotiations are likely to drag into the weekend.
