Fabian Hurzeler has proven himself since moving to Brighton. The German is now seen as someone who can do a similar job at another club.
This week, the Seagulls have leapfrogged Chelsea in the table. They now find themselves sixth and in a Europa League spot. They are even in contention to play in the Champions League for the very first time, with Liverpool only five points ahead.
Hurzeler has carried forward Roberto De Zerbi’s legacy well. While the Italian was more radical, the 33-year-old has added more balance and pragmatism while keeping foundational ideas in place.
As Italian side Fiorentina look at their future, Hurzeler is being seen as a possible managerial choice.
Hurzeler tempted by move
La Nazione – via La Viola, today look at how the Florence club will operate in the summer. They have managed to crawl out of the relegation zone under Paolo Vanoli but the Italian’s future is uncertain.
This is mainly because of Fabio Paratici, who wants to launch a shiny new project in Florence. They want managers who play an appealing brand of football, use young players and take the team forward into a new era.
Hurzeler’s work is Brighton has caught Paratici’s attention. The German is seen as the ideal candidate and the newspaper are confident he would be tempted by a switch to Serie A.
Enzo Maresca and Francesco Farioli are also of interest but the Seagulls’ manager is seen as more achievable.
Our take: Fiorentina dreaming big
It feels like every possible manager out there appeals to Fiorentina. This comes after the Florence press also suggested Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola as an option for them.
All of this seems like Paratici’s attempt to survey the market and then identify the best option. He also has to sell the Fiorentina project in the best way, now that survival is only a step away.
