Always interested in the South American market, Brighton & Hove Albion reportedly have a new target in Brazil.
According to Paparazzo RN on Twitter, the Seagulls are keen on the signing of Flamengo fullback Wesley.
It’s claimed that Brighton made an ‘official approach’ to his entourage, but that hasn’t turned into an official bid yet.
The report also says that the amounts said in the conversation were ‘not revealed’, as it’s also not known how much Flamengo demand for the player.
Brighton should just be aware that they’re not the only club looking to take Wesley to the Premier League, as two other English clubs spoke to his agents as well.
The 19-year-old has already made his way through the first team, and has 39 appearances for Flamengo.
The youngster has been a regular starter in the Brazilian League and the Copa Libertadores, and that’s why it would be no problem for Brighton or any English club to get a work permit for him.
Now we just need to see if the Seagulls will be able to convince Flamengo with a good bid, and it will also be interesting to see if major outlets in Brazil back up the news.
