Brighton & Hove Albion have reportedly placed a bid for Flamengo fullback Wesley.
According to RTI Esporte, the Seagulls were willing to pay €4m for the youngster, and made an attempt through his entourage.
Flamengo, however, turned down the offer, believing it’s ‘below expectations’. There’s no information on whether Brighton will show up with a new bid.
The report claims that Wesley staying at the Rio de Janeiro side isn’t guaranteed, but it’ll take a good effort to sign him.
Portuguese side Famalicão had been interested in landing him on a loan deal, but that’s not even considered by Flamengo.
Back in March, the very same website had reported that Brighton were preparing this €4m bid for Wesley, also letting Flamengo keep 20% of a future transfer.
So it seems the Seagulls may have waited for a few months until finally making their attempt, and now know they’ll need more money.
The player’s entourage are likely to be heavily involved.
