Southampton have joined Brighton & Hove Albion in the chase for Saša Kalajdžić.

The 24-year-old’s deal at VfB Stuttgart runs until 2023 and his stay there next season is considered unlikely.

That’s according to Bild, who explain the Bundesliga side ‘need transfer income’ and a fee of around €25m from the forward’s sale can help them improve their finances.

Brighton have included the Australia international in their transfer target list and the report suggests the Seagulls wouldn’t have an issue paying the €25m needed to secure his signature.

Bild add Bayern Munich are also in the mix for the Austria international. These claims are further backed up by TZ in Germany. The Bavarian club met his agent, Sascha Empacher, last month, to discuss his signing.

However, talks have stalled between the two parties since then, and he’s received attention from the Premier League, where both Brighton and Southampton, along with Tottenham, are in the picture to sign Kalajdžić.

Graham Potter’s side are making ‘intensive efforts’ to secure the player’s services. At the same time, Southampton are ‘interested’ in the Austrian attacker.

Should Bayern restart talks to sign Kalajdžić, then he would favour a move to join them over English clubs.
