Four days ago, we covered claims from Turkey that Brighton & Hove Albion are in the mix to sign Galatasaray’s Emin Bayram in the summer window.

The centre-back has been on loan at KVC Westerlo since last summer and it was stated that his impressive performances for them have caught the Seagulls’ attention.

Akşam now state Brighton have made progress in their pursuit of the 21-year-old.

The Belgian club don’t have an option or obligation to make his stay permanent and the defender will have to return to the Turkish club after this season.

Bayram’s contract there lasts until 2026, but Roberto De Zerbi’s side have shown ‘great interest’ in taking him away from Galatasaray.

It’s said the Premier League side have made a ‘huge offer’ of €8m to secure the Turkey U21 international’s services.

However, this proposal was turned down by the Istanbul club, likely because they want to include the player in their plans next season. It remains to be seen whether Brighton will return with an improved offer for the defender.

In addition to the Seagulls, unnamed clubs in Greece and Italy are also following Bayram, who managed a goal and two assists from 24 games for Westerlo.
