Brighton and Hove Albion have made a €7m bid to sign IFK Göteborg youngster Malick Yalcouyé this summer.
That’s according to Expressen, who cover the youngster today and how Brighton have already stepped forward to try and secure his signature.
The newspaper reports that Yalcouyé appears to be on his way out of IFK Göteborg this summer after impressing in the Allsvenskan.
He’s taken the division by storm this year and earned himself plenty of admirers, with reports earlier this year stating that Gent, Ajax and PSV were all keen and Brighton had ‘shown interest’.
That was followed by a report that an unnamed club had seen a bid rejected by the Swedish club, with technical director Ola Larsson basically inviting them to make a better offer.
“We have some requests that were at a bit too low a level, then we’ll see if they come back with a higher level,” he said.
Expressen now report that ‘things have picked up’ around the 18-year-old and insiders at IFK Göteborg have revealed that Brighton have submitted a €7m bid, equivalent to SEK 80m.
They do not state that this offer has been rejected like the previous bid from an unnamed club, which was worth SEK 50m, but that the relevant parties are ‘having positive talks’ and hope to reach an agreement for the midfielder.
There are other potential suitors in the mix, including Southampton, but insiders at the club insist it is currently Brighton who the ‘hottest club’ for Yalcouyé.
