Brighton & Hove Albion are interested in signing Arthur Melo, according to claims from Brazil.
Globo Esporte report there’s been an ‘approach’ from the Seagulls for the Juventus player.
Since the 26-year-old is not in Juventus’ plans for next season, they’re considering rescinding his contract, which expires in 2025.
Now despite Brighton’s contact, it’s claimed that their approach wasn’t considered ‘strong’ yet.
It’s said that the Seagulls’ interest wasn’t followed by ‘major advancements’ and there are ‘no negotiations’ at this time.
Even though Brazilian clubs have also been in touch for Arthur, Globo Esporte claim his return to his home country is ‘ruled out’ at the moment, as he wants to stay in Europe and sees the English market with ‘good eyes’.
Now it should be up to Brighton to make an effort, and check whether Juventus would accept to let him join the Seagulls for free.
Arthur spent the past season on loan at Liverpool, but was barely used by Jurgen Klopp, having only 13 minutes in one appearance for the Reds. That’s the main reason why he’s having difficulty finding a new club.
