In the past week, Brighton & Hove Albion were claimed to be one of the main candidates for the signing of Jhon Solis from Atletico Nacional.
It was first said the Seagulls ‘entered the bidding’ for the player, and then claimed they were staying strong in the fight, despite Brentford dropping out.
It turns out that according to journalist Cesar Luis Merlo, the City Group are the ones who have won the battle against Brighton for the signing.
On Twitter, the reporter claims that Atletico Nacional found an agreement in principle for Solis to join Girona.
The Spanish club are reportedly spending US$6m on the transfer, and following his medicals, he’ll sign a five-year contract with them.
Brighton have been linked to a large numbers of South Americans lately, and it’s just natural that they don’t get to land all of them.
Solis is a winger who, despite being just 18, already has 38 appearances under his belt for Atletico Nacional, including in the Copa Libertadores.
Now as Brighton continue to watch the South American market, we shall see if they still want a signing before the end of this window.
