Borussia Dortmund are interested in Thomas Delaney, report Bild.
The German newspaper speculate the Werder Bremen player could be signed as a ‘gift’ for manager Lucien Favre, who is set to take over at BVB.
Delaney, an all action midfielder, has impressed since moving to the Bundesliga from FC Copenhagen, and Dortmund won’t get it all their own way.
It’s stated five clubs from the Premier League are keen on the 26 year old, with Brighton & Hove Albion the only one named. There’s a good chance Everton are another, having followed Delaney for some time and trying to scupper his move to Werder.
FC Copenhagen agreed a deal with Werder in summer 2016, with the player remaining in Denmark until the winter window. During that time Everton offered the German side £5m to take him themselves, which would have seen Werder more than double their money without ever holding the player.
It was knocked back, but Everton claims continued.
Then others, including Brighton, were brought into the picture, and now a move is half expected to happen this summer.
Bild say Dortmund may lose out, given Delaney has an open desire to play in the Premier League.
